How can I write a letter & print it out on my computer?
I just want to write an occasional letter (or maybe send a recipe to someone). I don't want to buy a program for this as I won't use it much. My arthritis hinders me from writing things in longhand these days, but I can still 2-finger type on the comp.
Is there some FREE service that would allow me to type out something, attach my laptop to my printer (it's not a wireless printer) and send it off? E-mail doesn't help as the folks to whom I want to send things don't have computers. (Old fogies like me, but at least I try to keep current.)
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Use WordPad
it is a basic word processor that is already built into windows.
you will find it in the accessories folder
on the all programs list.
or if you want something a bit more advanced,
then use Libre > http://www.libreoffice.org/
to connect the printer.
read the manual.

Open office is free and very easy to use. Just go to google and type in free download open office.
