honestly NO way to tell.......you can call the local PD and have them run the serial #.........but no guarantee that they will bother......or even if they do since most localities don't bother to update national database probably won't do any good....

same goes for calling the BATF....they themselves say their own records are crap.....since they have to report every year...

since u live in CA i believe u have to fill out paperwork to even keep the gun.......and if u call police they will probably arrest u for unlawful possession......

in my home state i would just record date and time of auction along with serial # on a piece of paper and add it to the file in the safe in case anything ever came up...........

but since you live in Ca.....you just need to take the gun to ur local FFL dealer....and have them fill out the paperwork....pay the fees required.....the check they run will tell u if it has been reported stolen and when u pick it up after the required waiting period......

There are some databases online, butn the best thing to do is to get some law enforcement agency run a check on it.

    Go to hotgunz.con:

    http://www.hotgunz.com/

Enter the serial number and find out if it has been reported as stolen.

    Shoot straight and stay safe.

Contact your local PD, have them run the serial number for you.

    Ask the ATF of course.......
