Is a Bluetooth 2.1 device compatible with Bluetooth 4.0 software?

I have Windows 7 Pro on a Lenovo Thinkpad E530. The Rocketfish 2.1 adapter requires Widcomm software and my Thinkpad requires Lenovo Bluetooth software. Does this sound like a conflict.

I get temporary connections (Sometimes it works well and I can even go into my connected phone through my computer icon) or partial connections (It allows my pc to make phone calls from my phone but will not allow file transfers from my phone to PC).

Has anyone had any experiences with this situation or have any good advice?

Thanks in advance!

The Lenovo software should work with a built in adapter but you can uninstall that and use Widcomm.

Using the Widcomm stack fixed all the problems with my PC Bluetooth and other devices, especially audio devices.
