What are some really dark things?

I want to say someone is as "bright as a ____" in order to say sarcastically that someone isn't very bright. So i wanted to know some generally dark things, or dark related things. Things that people would automatically know is dark.

    As bright as a broken light bulb

    As bright as an unplugged light in darkness

    - "Bright as Black" (opposite of white is black)

    - "Bright as the Moon" (since opposite of sun is the moon)

    - "Bright as the shadows" (In books, when they describe a person in a shadow or whatever, you tend to think he is dangerous or the bad guy)
