Road trip from California to Kentucky.?
On February I'm going to Fort Knox Kentucky from California. It'll be my first time doing so. The rout I plan to take is interstate 40 from Ca. to Ky.. Is there any advise, precautions I should know, or site seeing that we can stop briefly.
I would appreciate your help.

It's a great drive - we did it earlier this year, but up to Nashville.
You will probably hit snow in the mountains of AZ - from Williams AZ, to Flagstaff AZ.
In AZ, about 40 mi east of Flagstaff, is Meteor Crater, a short side trip. Petrified Forest Nat'l Monument is 26 mi east of Holbrook. Takes more time, but still very interesting.
The I-40 through NM goes up into high plains, and there may be snow there as well.
Another Y!A talked about AAA for a TripTik. Well worth it, and especially for the road service in out of the way areas. I use them all the time, even with an in-car guidance system. Plus you get books, and maps as part of the membership.

Oh man you are in for it.I use to live in california for a long time and moved back to tennessee many times. It took me 4 days to get back to tennessee but kentucky is right above tennessee. It should take you 2-3 days if you travel all day all night.Unless you are a travel all day person I wish you luck.God bless you.

AAA I believe you can still do a "Trip tik", only nowadays, you do it yourself.
