My chances of being hired a "Patient Care" without college?
TITLE SKIMMERS READ THE REST PLEASE..
I finished college and got my associates in, electronic systems technology. I really want to have a career as a 'Biomedical Equipment Technician" (The people who repair and maintain hospital equipment)
Every location I attempt to apply to requires 1-2 years experience in the field. I've even been on an interview and they could care less about my college. I see a lot of places hiring patient care technicians in the same locations I applied to, who get to use the equipment from what I read. The education required section for these jobs read, "Center for Medicaid/Medicare Services or Highschool Diploma Required"
Will it be easy for me to get into this without any medical experience at all? I wish to start out as this for the medical equipment experience so I can hopefully be able to move up to a Biomedical Equipment Technician.
Simpson G,
Because of the electrical field being so vast, at the time I wasn't sure what kind of job I wanted to start in. My mind was set on an electrician, but as a couple months ago I want put my electrical skills into the medical field. If I would have known while I was in college I wanted to do this I would have done what you have said.
I'm sorry you couldn't comprehend my question, everyone else seemed to understand what I asked fine. May I suggest a book titled, '4th Grade Creative Writing' it can be found in most libraries in the children's section.

This is why you always always always check job listings BEFORE dropping money on a college 'degree'.
While you were in college, why weren't you asking professors for contacts? Why weren't you interning and making contacts? Why weren't you searching for jobs?
You are also a pretty poor writer - I don't know if your verbal commnunications are better, but if not, this could also be holding you up.
PCTs can be trained by the employer. The people that run the studies CANNOT. They require certifications specific to their job - Radiologic Technologist/Ultrasound Technologist/Sonographer.
If you made nice with your professors, e-mail one of them and ask them for advice on where to start. If you don't have those contacts, call a company and ask HR if they can point you in a direction. "Hi, I see that you are hiring repair tech but that you require experience. I don't have experience and I am wondering if you can recommend how to get experience for a new Associate's Degree holder? I really appreciate your time."

You cannot do any patient care until you have had an educational course. This is very basic stuff. Then expect some sort of state license or certification. You do that on your own dime. No employer does on-the-job training anymore, too much liability and often is illegal.
No one cares about HS unless you are still in HS. And almost no one will care what your college degree is. They want to know what skills you actually can give them. So far, you do not meet this criteria. Every employer will be like this.

You can start by being a volunteer in a h ospital so when there is a job opening you'll have the inside track. Have you checked the qualifications with people who are doing that type of work?

Those jobs traditionally go to nursing students. Your getting the job is doable, but I wouldn't call it easy.
