What car should I choose for beginning my racing career?
I am looking to hopefully get some feedback from pro's and experienced mechanics on some cars that I am interested in investing my time, money and love. I am trying to get into racing. I am not interested in drifting or drag racing, only road racing. I know everything (suspension and transmission and everything else) plays a big role in road racing. I am trying to get feedback/help on some particular cars that caught my attention. They are cheap and perfect for a start. I am not looking to buy a car for 15 grand and invest only 5. I would rather do it the other way around, buy a car for 5 grand, and invest more money into it. SO, NO SUPRAS OR RX-7's OR SKYLINES. Also no FF's as much as i love them, you cannot road race a FF in as much events as FR or RR
MR2 (1994 i believe) - RR sounds like the right combo for road racing,
300zx (1990-96) I know its a FR but I have owned this car, and the power to weight is great.
3000gt (any year) Also another FR, but never experienced the power to weight, so if anyone knows a little about them, dont be afraid of giving me feedback.
BMW M3 E36 - I know nothing about this car, so again, help please.
Mazda Miata - also know nothing about this car, except the fact that its light and super good at handling. Can the engine be swapped? turboed? how much space is under the hood?
s2000 - I know its a little over the budget, but I can get my hands on one for around 10, but i just have no idea about handling or transmission. All i know its a v-tec and its putting out something like 250 hp with a 4 cylinder.
So here you have some examples. Please don't be shy and comment on what you think. Dont be afraid to post some cars of your own vision that can make it on the race track, just please be realistic, because we all know that ferrari's and koenigsegg's are great, its just not everyone gets to start off with that much cash.
THANK YOU!!!

The Miata has some of the best aftermarket and manufacture support there is for a beginner! The problem is picking the level at which you want to race. There is enough room under the hood for a V8 and the stock engine is easy to get around.
My top three choices are:
1. Miata
2. RX7 (problem here is money, they can be expensive to field)
3. MR2 (Cheaper then a RX7 to field, more expensive then a Miata, does not handle as well and parts are a bit harder to find).
Look at the other makers contingency funding and what kind of support you can get at what ever level you decide to compete in. Ford (Mustang) also has a great support network for beginning racers by the way. Not my choice, but because the cars are so plentiful maybe a good choice.
Keep in mind that at some point spares will be needed. Miata and Mustang cars are plentiful and finding one that can use all the parts already at hand is not a problem. The rest of the cars on your list can be difficult to find and on some the interchange between years is more restrictive.

I just want to pipe in that the Mazda Miata has a great power to weight ratio... if I remember correctly, it's almost 50/50.
That's why it has amazing handling. The hood, as you can visibly imagine, is essentially one-third of the car's length. You can pack in a Greddy Turbo kit, inter-cooler, a turbo-back exhaust, and an intake pipe. Since the car weights in at a few hundred pounds over 2,000lbs, the above modifications are all you need to get it flying.
You can also do weight reduction. If you slip in a racing clutch and a K&N filter, get the Electronic controls reprogrammed (flashed), you just made yourself a competitor to a Corvette or heck, even a Viper. But make sure you get professional tires.

the 1st difficulty you will desire to do is to flow to a solid drag racing college like Roy Hills or Frank Hawleys. There you may get your license to tension any style of drag motor vehicle you want.they additionally be attentive to the fantastic information of having sponsorships, leasing engines and different stuff like that.devoid of having real seat time no person won't placed you in there motor vehicle because of fact highway racing and racing on the music is honestly distinctive.in case you may not get to a drag racing college i'd initiate out bracket racing at my community music and artwork my way up.And in case you nonetheless like highway racing maximum tracks have allot of heads up racing venues the place that's in a secure controlled enviroment.you incredibly need to provide up highway racing human beings can die.Allot of tracks have what they call midnight insanity the place the cost is low to get in and race all night.
