How to take care of 6 year old male cat being treated for UTI? symptoms listed?

My cat was taken to hospital Saturday night with symptoms of blood urine and signs of pain. He stayed there overnight so they could get a urine sample. They found crystals and bacteria and he is being treated for both. He also has a pain killer for contraction-like pain. He isn't licking his privates anymore but hasn't eaten/drank anything in over a day. I have tried syringing water but he has the facial act of hair on his mouth. He wont touch food. He hasn't urinated since the doctor got a sample from him over 31 hours ago. He tries to use his box but cannot get anything out. I'm worried he is blocked but cannot afford anpther $600+ visit to the animal hospital. All vets are closed and I can't figure out what to do.

I know this could ve life threatening if he has a blockage but I simply cannot afford any more especially since I'm a single mom with no support.

Does anyone have recommmendations for me? I live in the fox cities, wi. I don't want him to die but I'm scared he may.

X ray showed no stones but urine sample showed bacteria and crystals. Second opinions I've heard already are take him to another vet which I can't because none are open due to the holiday. Is there a home remedy I can do to help him eat and drink? Possibly to grt him to urinate finally???

Any help really matters..his life depends on it

Unfortunately it sounds like he is blocked. He can get very sick within 12 hours and die within 24 hours so time is critical! Call different emergency clinics, rescue groups or even the humane society in your town. See if anyone can make some type of payment arrangement with you but do not wait any longer. If blocked there is nothing you can do to help him at home. He needs emergency help now! Good luck.

Call back the vet that treated him and let the vet know that he may be blocked and that he is not better..it will not cost you ANOTHER $600 since the cat has already been treated. The vet may need to put a catheter in. If you go to a different vet you will be charged all over again for an office visit, etc. Is the cat taking antibiotics? Keep them up even if he is not eating.

Not eating is normal if he is taking some meds. Try to use a syringe to get water in him. Call the vet and leave a message or an emergency vet. Ask if this is normal. If you do take him back to your bet, the cost certainly would be this much as this is a return visit. Try putting the water in the side of the mouth and gently stroking his throat to get him to swallow. Do not lean him back to do this.

Your vet will be filling you in on it when you pick the cat up.
