Are you ready for hurricane season?
The only good thing I can say about a hurricane is that it is the only natural disaster that gives you enough warning time to prepare. So - time to start gathering all the supplies you need (cash included) and the information that is critical to start over should the worse happen. Even need to make sure the fur residents are current on vaccines and have their microchip placed. Are you ready?
6 AnswersCurrent Events6 years agoThoughts on the reporting of the recent air disaster in France?
Since the current event in France there are many TV stations reminding us of other recent plane crashes with the dates, country and fatality count. Although every crash is a tragedy I feel it is unfair to the relatives of passengers lost on Germanwings to compare them. Agree or disagree?
9 AnswersCurrent Events6 years agoIs it possible to get a new key for a used car - 2002 foreign?
I am unable to locate the key and wonder if is it possible or do I need to actually take to a dealer and get a new ignition switch.
4 AnswersBuying & Selling6 years agoHave your grocery shopping habits changed a lot since you have retired? In what way - better or worse?
I have found that I am able to do more and more with less and less. I am basically eating my main meal at lunch because I get a free lunch at the senior center I volunteer and belong to. Bakery goods and desserts are won as Bingo prizes. Shopping includes mostly coupons, BOGO's and specials. I also save on generic rather than brand names as most are just as good. There are certain products I will not skimp on.
Just curious how others are doing since they no longer have a weekly income and may only have SS to rely on.
1 AnswerSenior Citizens6 years agoIs it just a coincidence that North Korea has a massive blackout of the internet?
Do you believe it is just a coincidence or perhaps on purpose? It is reported that coverage has been sporadic the last few days but is now totally out? The US has denied blame.
9 AnswersCurrent Events6 years agoHow are you accepting the decision made by the Grand Jury in Ferguson?
There are some that are rioting and others that are peacefully protesting. Will you be reading the details and then deciding your viewpoint? It is sad that there is violence that is taking place. We need calm at this point.
12 AnswersCurrent Events6 years agoThe public was told that the National Guard was on notice and stand by for the decision in Ferguson. Where were they?
I did not see any National Guard out on the streets when violence started last night. If they were on notice were they still on standby? They had at least 8 hours to come to town and be ready. Were they to protect the police or the town and its citizens? Thoughts?
1 AnswerCurrent Events6 years agoWhere do some questions go- perhaps into thin air?
I have posted a question recently - had one reply. I just got notification that another person answered but it does not show when I reference the question. Where could it have gone? Into oblivion? There is more to the answer than the notification showed. This happened once before and I have no idea where that one went either. Ideas?
2 AnswersYahoo Answers7 years agoI am curious about the Red Hat Society. If you are a member can you give me some feedback?
It sounds like an interesting group but I have never run into anyone that is a member even though I have traveled in many states - north and south.
1 AnswerOther - Society & Culture7 years agoVoting strictly on party lines?
Do you usually vote on party lines or for the specific candidate? Have you ever told the people who do the pool calculations that you will vote one way only to actually do the opposite?
Given the pulse of the country being so split this year I am curious - I think it will be an interesting night on the 4th. Thoughts?
Current Events7 years agoYour reaction on the new isolation protocol in 3 states?
I have heard that there are now 3 states that are requiring healthcare workers returning from Africa to undergo mandatory isolation for 21 days. This is more strict than the CDC has. Do you agree?
5 AnswersCurrent Events7 years agoWho considers it strange that nobody seemed to consider a travel restriction or a travel ban until a traveler came here with Ebola?
It has been months since the outbreak started and thousands have died. Did anyone consider a travel restriction or ban in place before now? Should it actually take a case to appear in this country before any action is taken?
6 AnswersCurrent Events7 years agoEbola - is the health threat worse for the healthcare workers or the general public?
Consider this - the public is being constantly told on the mode of transmission of Eola -NOT airborne. The family of Duncan are nearing the end of the isolation period and not one has gotten ill. The only 2 people currently infected are the healthcare nurses that were in direct contact with Duncan. All others currently being monitored are also not sick. So - who is really at high risk?
We should be concerned but not panicked. Thoughts?
3 AnswersCurrent Events7 years agoDon't citizens from other countries (non-US) need a passport? Aren't the passports looked at for previous travel destinations?
I have asked a relative that has a family member that travels internationally a lot about this. I am informed that the passport is scanned electronically so wouldn't the travel recently be noted if they came from or were in Africa? I know in the past that every time you travel a stamp was placed in the passport but mine is not current.
3 AnswersCurrent Events7 years agoEbola - a perspective on being airborne?
It is said that it is not transmitted through the air but only close contact with bodily fluids. In you are sitting next to a person who is not showing symptoms but perhaps is just sneezing - are not the droplets put out by sneezing actually a body fluid? As hard as one may try to cover up a sneeze sometimes it is not possible. Thoughts?
1 AnswerRespiratory Diseases7 years agoShould a healthcare worker under voluntary monitoring be under mandatory isolation instead?
The newest Ebola patient took care of Duncan and took the irresponsible (IMO) action of getting on a plane. Last night she returned from visiting family & this morning reported the fever - now diagnosed.
Should all healthcare workers under voluntary monitoring now be under isolation due to the actions of one of their own? Thoughts?
2 AnswersCurrent Events7 years agoCan I delete or stop the annoying ads that pop up on the right side of the screen?
When I am looking at questions there are ads that pop up on the right side of the screen with moving pictures. They are annoying to see out of the corner of my eyes and very distractive. Any way to stop the movement?
3 AnswersYahoo Answers7 years agoHow do think the Ebola scare will affect the health care system?
Do you think it will change the minds of the state governors that refuse to accept the Medicaid expansion into actually expanding Medicaid? If a patient has no insurance are these patients covered in any way or are the state residents paying the bill? Can a patient actually be denied medical care - it does cost a lot of money to treat. Thoughts?
