Thoughts on the reporting of the recent air disaster in France?

Since the current event in France there are many TV stations reminding us of other recent plane crashes with the dates, country and fatality count. Although every crash is a tragedy I feel it is unfair to the relatives of passengers lost on Germanwings to compare them. Agree or disagree?

Update:

Thanks everyone for the great answers. There is a time to remember all the previous tragedies but I believe now is not the time. The fact is that this a tragedy that has completely destroyed the plane -no large pieces found. Even the passengers have, unfortunately, not been found intact. They are removing the body parts one at a time so the recovery will be long and intense. This can't be compared to any other recent disaster. We need to give the relatives time to grieve in their own way.

Update 2:

Again - great answers and many different viewpoints. Now that the cause is known it is beyond comprehension. It was noted that the comparisons stopped after the first hint of the cause. No two crashes can ever be compared and hopefully they never will be again in the future. May all the victims rest in peace.

To be honest I think that grieving relatives have far weightier things on their minds than the sort of trivial and trifling reporting that most TV stations resort to after tragedies such as this. I agree that each one is incomparible with another. How can you possibly compare a suicide pilot with a plane which has entirely gone missing without trace with another which was shot from the skies over Ukraine. All the families of the missing and dead are equally devastated, and yet the circumstances surrounding the tragedies are so at odds.

Disagree. For the greater good, those of us who are not emotionally devastated have the responsibility to look at the big picture.

I do not imagine that the TV coverage can harm the victims' loved ones compared with the actual deaths. They are already maxed out.

It must be very hard on them but it is a legitimate subject for discussion, there have been other times when a pilot has deliberately crashed a plane, I wasn't aware of them until now.

It's over with. Why go on talking about it.

The big problem with twenty-four hour television news is that you need twenty-four hours of news to fill it. They're trying to fill time until something happens.

I think it's completely fair that we should be reminded that every air crash is a tragedy ... !

Disagree because those other people are also dead. I also doubt that they are watching TV, I surely hope not.

-NOTHING about this Tragic Situation is in ANY "Way" fair... And the Reporting of it- is in NO Way Different. :(
