3 AnswersFish1 year agoHow to take care of 6 year old male cat being treated for UTI? symptoms listed?
My cat was taken to hospital Saturday night with symptoms of blood urine and signs of pain. He stayed there overnight so they could get a urine sample. They found crystals and bacteria and he is being treated for both. He also has a pain killer for contraction-like pain. He isn't licking his privates anymore but hasn't eaten/drank anything in over a day. I have tried syringing water but he has the facial act of hair on his mouth. He wont touch food. He hasn't urinated since the doctor got a sample from him over 31 hours ago. He tries to use his box but cannot get anything out. I'm worried he is blocked but cannot afford anpther $600+ visit to the animal hospital. All vets are closed and I can't figure out what to do.
I know this could ve life threatening if he has a blockage but I simply cannot afford any more especially since I'm a single mom with no support.
Does anyone have recommmendations for me? I live in the fox cities, wi. I don't want him to die but I'm scared he may.
X ray showed no stones but urine sample showed bacteria and crystals. Second opinions I've heard already are take him to another vet which I can't because none are open due to the holiday. Is there a home remedy I can do to help him eat and drink? Possibly to grt him to urinate finally???
Any help really matters..his life depends on it
4 AnswersCats8 years agoMy 6 year old male cat isnt urinating, pooping, eating, drinking. whats wrong?
We took our 6 year old male cat to the emergancy vet late yesterday evening. He had to stay overnight to get a urine sample for the vet. They had to give him a shot to get him to pee, which was done around 7 this morning. He hasn't been able to pass anything since then. He was brought home with amoxicillin and a painkiller. They don't seem to be working because he is always squatting but nothing happens. He cries a little bit and and wants some attention but wont stay long.
I am concerned because he isn't urinating or pooping that he may be blocked and could be life threatening. I called the animal hospital and they said to bring him in but I spent $600 alone last night. That is by far ridiculous and I can't afford any more.
What is going on? Is it seriously life threatening? Can it wait til morning? Must I force feed him and give him water by syringe?
