anyone else tired of the word " better" around here?

What's better a big stick or a little stick? What's better a 150 gr bullet or a 175 gr bullet. What's better a waterproof jacket or a waterproof poncho? What's better an o/u or a SxS? What's a better hunting dog, a walker hound or shorthair pointer?

I guess I should chill, but it irks me when people insist on superlative terms when they are asking about two things that serve two different purposes. Or its simply a matter of preference? Nothing I own is better or worse than any other option. I have what I have because its what serves my purposes. Why do people want to buy what's best, instead of buying what's best for them?

Update:

Hangtrojanover; I'm terribly sorry you don't know how to read. That must be embarassing for you. I know life is going to be difficukt for you so I'll be gentle and just repeat the question as simply as possible. Why people not want what best for them? If that's not simple enough, let me know and I'll try to send a picture book that explains it.

I know what you are saying and consider that most of the askers are young and have never held a gun in their hands. They are after ammo(BULL S. Type) to carry to their Starbucks engineering class to top everyone else`s imaginary gun. Caffein highs are redlining and a very high-level of intelligence is needed and YA supplies the substance.Be proud as a supplier. Happy New Year.

I do not want to punch any individual. I just vent my frustration by entering my SUV and riding round aimlessly whilst leaving all of the ancient-fashioned non-vigour-efficient mild bulbs in my residence burning. I feel it can be kinda cool. I am looking to see simply precisely how huge i will motive my imaginary "carbon footprint" to develop. It is kinda like a my pee-pee is larger than yours contest for me. It's fun, and it pisses off the worldwide warming crowd more than punching them ever could. The bonus is you do not need to go to detention center for assaulting a moron. You must are attempting it. Edit - For what it's worth, i do not suppose that coining the term carbon footprint was once the real crowning jewel. IMO, the proper bounce the shark second was once once they determined it would be quintessential and clever to tax cow farts.

Questions asking what's better and what's best are somewhat annoying, as are questions that don't give adequate information.

The asker is showing their ignorance. I don't think it matters much what you tell them. They don't have enough knowledge or experience to understand the answer and probably are not going to do anything anyway.

No anger here, BA, I usually just ignore them; they are beyond help. You can't help people who don't know enough to ask an intelligent question.

A very good question. I think it is the power of advertising that makes everyone want the " better" , the "best", the "greatest", the " latest", etc.

In other words the general population has been successfully brain washed. That's the bottom line. They don't have a clue as to what they want or need, but as long as it has a superlative in front of it, that's the one they want....

I've been tired of the word "better" for quite some time now. However, it provides me free entertainment, so I turn an annoyance into an opportunity for a laugh.

    Works for me.

it may be tiring, but hopefully it doesn't hurt your feelings : )

there's a lot of little folks in Yahoo Answers, and I find it more ironic when people put their faith in a total stranger on the internet. It's kinda fun to come in here and watch people exploit themselves, and then it's up to the person asking the question to sort out what they believe is the most substantial answer. In other words, "it's fun" lighten up and do what you gotta do. Don't be uptight. Enjoy life!

Better is not as bad as BEST when they are talking in price ranges of one fifth of even getting close to best.

What's better is the thought of making it all better which could be an improvement for them.

    Source(s): They could do better

People are merely looking for advice.

What do you expect them to say?

If it irks you, don't give your advice or share your knowledge, let others do it.

Well, it's still better than some of the things people post in religion and spirituality :)
