Would it be a good move the House of Representatives to Choose a New Speaker?

Would it be wise to have a "Non Elected" Person to fill this position? Someone Like Mitt Romney to use his negotiating skills to help move the country forward in face of all of its Economic woes?

The Speaker of the United States House of Representatives (or Speaker of the House) is the presiding officer of the chamber. The office was established in 1789 by Article I, Section 2 of the United States Constitution, which states in part, "The House of Representatives shall chuse [sic] their Speaker..." The Constitution does not require that the Speaker be an elected Member of Congress, but no non-member has ever been elected to the office.

Update:

Perhaps we could consider bring back Newt! He worked well with Clinton!

Yes that is a solution, or someone who is not strongly tied to either side, but could help politically negotiate an agreement which keeps America on an even keel-maybe even a high court judge?.

The Speaker of the House is also the leader of the majority party. Would it also be a good time to replace the Majority Leader of the Senate or are you just after Republicans? Wouldn't be foolish to make an unelected person second in line in secession to be President of the US? The Vice President is first in line. The last time that happened is when the Vice President resigned and Ford was appointed VP by the Senate. Except Ford was an elected offical before taking the office of VP.

I see that you still have some faith and that is an admirable feat.

You are floating names around that are not the least bit attractive.

A complete change in the executive would have been the best game changer, but you guys did not go for that.

So, the next steps are entirely up to you

He seems to think that a 3% margin means be on the defensive and give in even when detrimental to the country plus as third in line (maybe second - I think Biden would be passed over due to his Alzheimer), a defeatist is the last thing the country needs.
