What do I need to upgrade my stock rims to a bigger size?

I have a 2010 Toyota Camry SE ( 4 cylinder) with 17' stock alloy rims on it. I've grown weary of the stock appearance of the rims that I want to change things a bit up.

I've heard upgrading your rims to a bigger size may affect the speedometer, as well as the quality feel of the car. I've also heard that one can upgrade their rims without affecting anything. What I am searching for from the Answers Community is guidelines and accurate information on what I need to go bigger without sacrificing ride quality and such.

I am interested in upgrading to 19" rims. Do I need anything special to supplement such upgrade, such as new braking system? Please help me better prepare for my anticipated upgrading of my stock rims.

Many thanks for taking your time to help. As always, your contribution to the Answers Community is always appreciated.

Dad.

You will not need to reflash (for speedometer correction) if you decrease the tire profile as you increase the rim size, but this will give you a harsher ride. I'm not sure what size tires come stock on your car, but you can increase the rim diameter as long as the outer diameter of the tire stays the same. If you still want large profile tires to maintain ride quality (which in a Camry SE is questionable anyway), you will have to have adjustments made for the speedometer and odometer to read correctly. No other modifications are necessary.
