I heard the pope complaining about a sharp decline in donations to the Catholic Church over the last few years. Maybe they're advertising to increase profitability.

<<What's up with all these Catholics Come Home TV ads?>>
What, did the adds not explain "what's up" clearly enough?
<<Is the catholic church running out of money or something?>>
Obviously not! Since the Church could obviously afford to spot the adds on tv and all !

Good... glad to hear it.
The "Catholics Come Home" campaign is ran by an individual.. if you go to the website, you'll see what I mean. http://www.catholicscomehome.org/ He started the outreach to get Catholics, like himself, back to the faith.
It is not because "the Church" is running out of money.. Catholics Come Home is an external non-profit.
Some parishes have donated money to his organization, but it is not a church ran advertising campaign.
I get what you are saying... LDS runs ads. Local churches advertise, pass out flyers, go door to door, etc. -- But people aren't use to the Catholic church evangelizing and advertising itself. I get that....
Pope Benedict announced "the Year of Faith" to start a NEW evangelization effort within the Church. Many individual Catholics have responded to that call. Part of Pope Benedict's visit to England was part of this New Evangelization.
So you may see MORE of this in the coming years. Some Catholics are calling it "a new spring time of the faith"
My parish, for instance.. bought a banner from the Catholics Come Home.org site and displayed it for several months above the church doors to show support for the campaign.
::EDIT::
Wow! He recently changed the site to make it more schnazzy. It use to greet you with a video from the founder, now it displays 3 doors and makes you choose a category to better direct you to relevant information. INTERESTING! I'll have to explore the site some more. Looks like they've added new videos. http://www.catholicscomehome.org/im-not-really-rel...

Catholic church isnt putting out those ads. An organization called Catholics Come Home is buying the air time. .
The goal is basically to get non practicing Catholics to become observant. I started to check out Catholicism when it was just cards and booklets. They seem to have got the message out since they can afford tv ads now.

No, the Catholic Church is continuing the mission Jesus gave her, to preach the good news and tend his flock. In the Bible, Jesus talks about the Good Shepherd, who goes out looking for one lost sheep. This is what the Church continues to do, help bring the lost sheep back into the fold of salvation.

The fellow who runs the program is a convert. He was a Lutheran minister. He began doing historical research on Luther for a paper he was writing and discovered how Luther had edited the bible to fit his personal beliefs, rather than actual scripture.
He lost a lot to follow the true Christ.
He hopes to help others

<<Why does the Catholic church abruptly have such numerous labeled commercials on television?>> exterior of Catholic-oriented television channels, i've got no longer considered a single "upload". additionally, technically, they do no longer look to be "provides" - they are public service bulletins (PSA's). <<i do no longer know with reference to the section you reside in, yet i've got observed that for the previous few weeks the Catholic church has had an abundance of labeled commercials...exceptionally lots attempting to tell human beings to pass to have Catholicism.>> i've got yet to work out considered one of those PSA on a "mainstream" channel. Regardless, what's incorrect with the Catholic Church airing PSAs? <<have numerous human beings left the Catholic church or something?>> As lots of people who leave the Church, there are constantly greater human beings coming in.

The Catholic church is recognizing that many individuals that grew up as Catholics have since left the church, for a number of different reasons. The "publicity campaign" is perhaps designed to welcome these individuals back to the church -- that is, if they want to come back to the church.
Many real-world companies do the same thing. For example, if you're a loyal subscriber to a cable TV service for 10 years and then suddenly you cancel your subscription, the cable TV company will likely send you several letters and emails trying to win you back. Perhaps even for a year or more.
They know it is a lot easier to woo someone back who was once a member, than it is to drum up brand new recruits.
