Why has John Boehner screwed up this Sandy Relief bill so bad?

Before conservatives tell me about the pork in the senate bill, let me first say, I agree there shouldn't be any pork in the bill.  But John Boehner & the GOP controlled house could have introduced a pork-free Sandy Relief bill regardless of what the senate did.  Why didn't they?

Update:

Truthseeker818, do you know how a bill becomes a law?  Yes the senate passes a bunch of pork, but the house didn't have to vote on the senate bill.  They could have introduced a bill (like they're doing tomorrow) without pork but they could've passed it two or three days ago.  Heck they can pass it today.  As far as hurricane Andrews 7B, your right, BUT, in 2005 hurricane Katrina relief got 54B in relief.  That was passed with a GOP senate, house, & President, and it was passed 10 days after the hurricane.

You do realize that Boehner actually saved the bill and the tax payers right?

He delayed the bill by 1 day... they will vote on it and pass it on friday....without the pork. If they voted on the bill the first time there would have been millions of dollars of pork in the bill. Hurricane Andrew relief only took 7 billion, NJ`s entire state budget is 30 billion, the Sandy relief Bill was 60 billion..... cmon now. He did the right thing and eliminated the pork and passed the amount needed for immediate recovery. They dont need all 60 billion in one shot.

    Edit:

Sorry but get your facts straight Hurricane Katrina Bill was 62.3 Billion after all was said and done. (scroll down to the last paragraph....the largest portion Bush signed was 51.8 Billion. But just as with this bill there will be multiple parts) Only the first portion was allocated after 10 days. And actually they cant vote on it today like you stated. The 113th congress gets seated today, so not much will be voted on today because the new congress will have to be brought upto speed on things.

My sense is that they just ran out of time. The fiscal cliff bill and associated drama took up all their attention. I'm sure it will be one of the first bills taken up by the new Congress.

Granted, a pork-free bill should have been passed months ago, but the Senate only passed their (megapork) version on Dec. 31st, so it's not like either party was being especially prompt on this.

The gutless and heartless people we call Congress owe so many people (who backed them financially to get them elected) that they lost all concern for the people they are supposed to represent.
