Could Pelosi be voted Speaker of the House even though the Dems are the minority party?

Update:

the speaker is elected by a plurality vote, there have been times when the house has more than just 2 political parties. if a few republicans decide not to vote, Pelosi could be elected with less than a full majority. Also the vote is not by "party" affiliation, political parties as such are not recognized by the constitution. Any representative can vote any way they chose at any time. The Speaker is chosen by election on the premise that the person "in charge" should be able to organize a voting caucus to get bills passed, a task that Boehner has failed spectacularly with.

    Yes.

If the democrat candidate were a popular moderate like Clinton or Kennedy that would be a possibility this time around ... but Pelosi won't win.

Not unless Republicans vote her to be Speaker.

I seriously doubt that will happen.

    Hope that helps.
