How to block spam with ever changing provider names?

Lately my Yahoo! mailbox is inundated with spam from addresses that begin with "mailers@" and then some fancy provider name after the @.

I've tried to block these mailings, but since they constantly change the provider name, this does not work.

Is it not possible to use a generic address to be blocked, such as " mailers@** "?

The address to add in your Blocked Senders list for these would be 'mailers@*' - only one star gives you the wild card effect of blocking all domains with that ending. If that doesn't stop the spam, try adding 'mailers@*.com.

Spammers are criminal organizations looking for money by selling your address to others, or finding ways to gain information for identity theft. Do not help them in any way. NEVER open these messages - it signals the spammer that your address is valid for them to keep using!

Read these articles with many helpful tips. The iolo link may be from a commercial site, but they aren't trying to sell anything (except System Mechanic, which isn't necessary to buy)

You could also download a free spam filter, mostly for download mail, not web mail:

http://www.mailwasher.net/ (for only one account in free version, but many types of mail programs)

http://spambayes.sourceforge.net/ (for almost all mail programs, including web mail - download the 'stand-alone' version for web mail. Be careful - it's an untested version!)
