AARP MedicareComplete Plan 2 (HMO)?

Is this a good healthcare plan? For someone that only takes one medication and visits the doctor once a year? Thanks

Update:

They said that I will be paying ($0) and free medications by mail. Copay; office $0...Specialist $10...ER $65. So I how much will have to pay Medicare for Part A and B?

Update 2:

I have just found out that I will have to pay $104 for part (B) because in 2011 my income was less than $85.000. Thanks everyone for your input. :)

Update 3:

I have just found out that I will have to pay $104 for part (B) because in 2011 my income was less than $85.000. Thanks everyone for your input. :)

AARP is an agent for United Health Care. From what I know, United and Blue Cross sell the most Medigap policies in California. I dont know about their Advantage plan which you are talking about.

You still have to pay the same for Part B $105 and I dont know if you pay Part A or not but that is the same whether you have Advantage (the HMO option) or Original Medicare. With the Advantage or HMO option it includes Part D but you still pay monthly for that on top of Medicare Part B.

If you worked long enough in the U.S. you wont pay for Part A like most people but if you are a retired railroad worker or a few other categories, you might pay for Part A. You still have an annual Part A deductible of around $1100 and a Part D deductible with some plans and a Part B deductible of $162 (?)

I dont understand the zero monthly cost or free medication. I would consult with a HICAP counselor.

    Aarp Medicarecomplete Plan 2

I have been with AARP HMO through United Health Care for several years. I have had no problems getting authorization for my needs, such as seeing specialists. The premiums are paid by your Medicare premiums, the co-pays are less this year.

I have a friend who pays $200 a month for supplemental to medicare. At the years end, she has paid much more than I have, for the same services.

Call your Social Security office and ask them what the charges are for part A and for part B which is taken out of your check automatically. I only take one medication and go to the Dr. once a year BUT I have AARP plan C medigap as you never know what will happen when you get older and I sure wouldn't want to have to pay medical bills which I understand from my friends are out of this world.. Also as I understand it if you don't take out part B when you first turn 65 you can't get it later, also ask S.S. that. When your on medicare always make sure the Dr. your going to see accepts it or you will get stuck with the bill. I never get a bill as the medigap ( plan c ) picks up what medicare doesn't pay. I have no co pays either, I don't like co-pays. So far I have been blessed with good health so you might say I pay for nothing but you can't look ay it that way---you never know when something might happen and with medical cost today you could lose everything you have.

I checked about opting out of part A & B, as I also have VA coverage. The premiums go way up fast if I wanted to get back in and I think every year you wait. I'm keeping it -- The way the Government is going the VA could get cut then, i'd really be in a mess. I'd ask at least 2 or 3 different people at SS about what will happen if you wait. You'll probably get 3 different answers -- Good luck.

    No charge for Part A

Part B is 100 to 150 a month based on your benefit amount

    Part D must be purchased

Supplementary Policy which would be that Plan 2 seems TOO good to be true.

one person for part D is 45

    Supplementary is 250 a month

Ask your United Healthcare agent if there's a preferred provider program in your area. Here in Central Florida, they rebate $99 per month of the part B expense..

If you only go to the doctor once a year and take one medication, I would not pay to be covered. I have a plan for which I pay for my one medication, and it does not charge me monthly.
