Because they would rather believe a lie than the "Truth" (The Bible). To many, a lie makes them feel good, they don't want rules o anyoner telling them what to do with their lives.

    Source(s): The Bible.

Those "prophecies" are not even remotely convincing.

They are of these general types:

Things that happen anyway all the time. "People are lovers of themselves." "There will be earthquakes in divers places" and "People will run to and fro" are examples of this type.

Things that were never meant as prophecy but were re-purposed by early Christians. The Psalms were never meant as prophecy, but the gospel authors echoed some passages in some Psalms to make the more gullible Gentiles think they predicted the life of Jesus.

Prophecies that were fulfilled by writing fake stories. The fact that the authors of Matthew and Luke got Jesus born in Bethlehem but raised in Nazareth through two completely different and incompatible stories is the best evidence of that.

Old Testament passages that were given self-serving translations to make them sound like they were about Jesus rather than about the nation of Israel, which is what the original Hebrew said.

Passages that were taken out of context. Some of those supposed prophecies fall apart when you read the whole context of the story.

In other words, anyone who digs a bit deeper can see that they're all faked in one way or another and only the terminally gullible fall for them.

Have you ever studied the bible like most atheists have? It is blocked with contradictions. And as for the prophecies, they are self fulfilling prophecies. Anyone can predict earthquakes, wars, bad weather and diseases. It is all part of nature.

What prophecies have come true? As for your "are coming true" comment, you do not know the future. Your question lacks anything related to details...

So, to answer your question, questions like yours are why I don't believe in the bible.

have you read the Bible? one gospel states that Jesus was born in the manger when another gospel states that he was born in the house. both say that he was born in Bethlehem which is a town that wasn't founded until the 4th century CE - more than 300 years after the alleged birth. snakes don't talk. there is no evidence in Egyptian records - and they kept meticulous records - that there was an enslavement and an exodus of the Hebrews. there is no way that a 40 year long wandering in the desert could possibly have taken place. the Bible is so full of contradictions and outright lies that it is hard to believe any of it.

Of course they're coming true. So many Christians are such hypocrites, that people don't want to follow something that makes people be hateful to one another though, it's SUPPOSED to be Love Thy Neighbor. Plus Republicans say a lot of things that just don't make sense. Sometimes just stupid.

Any prophecy can come true if it's vague enough. Here I'll make one right now:

A giant ball of fire will fill the sky tomorrow.

They were written after the fact or is a "prophecy" of exactly how humans would act and have acted for millennia.

    Talking snakes

    Talking donkeys

    Walking water

    Sticks turning into snakes

    The list is endless...

the bible is full of extremely vague prophetic passages, they can be interpreted many different ways, its like reading horoscopes.
