What time is 5:00 PM GMT +0 in eastern time?

A person on the internet said that he would be available at 5:00-6:00 PM GMT +0. I'm all confused with these time zone things and time systems. Could anybody knowledgeable on the subject help me out?

5-6 pm universal time would be 1700-1800 UTC (another name for GMT). Eastern time is 5 hours behind GMT, so subtract 5 from 1700-1800 UTC. This would give you 1200-1300 eastern time. That's 12:00-1:00 pm.

12:00PM. EST is GMT-5, therefore you subtract five hours from the time you mentioned which leads to 12:00PM
