Tax return on foreign income?
I'm needing information on filing my husbands tax return. My husband has been working overseas since April 17th, 2012. In order for him to receive the foreign earned income tax exemption he has to be out of the country for 330 days in a year. Do I need to wait the whole 330 days before filing his return or can I file it now since he won't be coming back until June 2014?

Yes, you must wait until the 330 day test is met before filing. You must also pro-rate the exclusion amount since it spans 2 calendar years.
Since he resides outside of the US the filing and payment deadline is extended to June 15, 2013, so an extension of time to file is not strictly needed. You can file a Form 4868 for an automatic extension to Oct 15, 2013 if you want.

Try looking at the IRS website at this link. It has info on the foreign tax exclcusion. You might want to look around for an accountant or CPA who specializes in foreign income.
Good luck
