Can you do both? Go with family and come home early if classes start before the planned return. I do not believe they can force you. It might be really important to your parents for you to attend.

Tips for university - cousin's or cousins', house, want to, can't. Do not drop "like" into sentences unless it means something; "(in the car)" is not a sentence. Otherwise good.

Of course they can't , university/education are probably the most important things in your life right now.so explain that to them and they should be ok
