Is there a source of claims that start with "NASA says..." and end with something utterly crazy?

I collected a few of these claims that I found on Yahoo Answers, which I'll reproduce below. Are these people getting their news about what "NASA says" from any one particular source that claims to speak for NASA? We had plenty of that all through December and I'm wondering if it's one place that's deliberately making stuff up and misleading people. Maybe a TV show?

I found these by searching for "NASA says":

..............................................

“I heard NASA said aliens cut grooves into sections of pavement so our tires would resonate harmonically as they rolled over the grooves. The sound of our tires is the aliens!”

“I read that NASA says that a massive solar storm will cripple our electric grid in December and cause mass chaos.”

“…someone said that NASA said a solar flare will destroy the earth and end civilization, but I watched a youtube video about a NASA worker saying nothing will happen. Who is telling the truth?”

“So do you believe in the whole 2012 "Worlds gonna end" thing? How theres going to be like a solar storm? i kinda do? like even nasa said it”

“Why is it that NASA warned us about solar storm in 2012? I'm not very well educated about space and stuff but I saw a warning from NASA saying that we'll possibly have a solar storm that is life threatening...

[…]why would NASA try to cause a hype about something that could "never" happen?”

“My wife said there would be an asterode hitting earth, and we were worried so I asked God through prayer. My pastor in the next day's sermon mentioned Revelations 3:25 and that is about the destruction of Earth. We took this as a sign and we are prepared to evacuate (although I don't know were, NASA said the asterode would be REALLY BIG :( so I don't really know)

Can anyone in the field of science help me?”

“What do you think about the Asteriod hitting earth in 2029? NASA says they can deflect it if it gets too close, what do you think?”

“So everybody is talking about how nasa said were gonna go into darkness for 3 days on the 21st of December yadadada and i wanna know if this is true or not.”

“NASA says that the entire Earth will be plunged into complete darkness during December 25th to 27th 2012. Do you think electricity would work you think this was true. Or its not worth worring as it is a hoax. What do you think?”

Update:

EDIT: Well, I guess we found the source of one of these claims.

I've found some people on this forum wondering whether NASA is still needed. It makes me wonder who else people would resort to steal credibility for such crazy claims. If you'd shut down NASA tomorrow, those stories would instead start with "The government says..." or "Scientists say..." (anything that is sufficiently diffuse and encompassing) because people would know of no other authority figure to emit decrees that they understand nothing about and can't decipher or distinguish plausible stuff from obvious bunk.

Anyway, because so many people know of no other science-related source than NASA, they use it as blanket for anything having to do with space, technology, mathematics and flight, and other marginally associated subjects. Given the wide scope of applications they look for, it's not too surprising. I don't think that Americans fully appreciate what they have, and how it's one of the few remaining things that foreigners still value in their country.

I made up the first one, the one about aliens talking to us through our car tires via pavement grooves. It's just a stupid joke, parodying the people who actually lack critical thinking skills and think NASA confirms everything on YouTube.

Here's the truth about what NASA is REALLY up to! Demons are masquerading as aliens to lead us away from the grace of God through his son Jesus crucifixion and resurrection. The deception is much greater then what is depicted here. There is hidden technology that is being reserved for the great deception.DNA manipulation to create abominations, even wars right now are being set up by the so called elite to create the one world gov and religion. They are willing to sacrifice lives and anything needed to obtain their goal. Behind it all is an evil spirit named Satan who is trying to control Gods creation against him. Jesus loves you so much, the truth is in the bible. Confess with your mouth that the Lord is Jesus (Yahushua) and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead and you will be saved.

I traced one of them, can't remember which, back to CNN recently. I suspect most of them are simply inventions, mostly from people who have not the foggiest idea what NASA is or what NASA does. They are propagated by incompetent self-styled "journalists" on blogs and such, who pass them along without bothering to check their facts.
