what can I give as treats to my rat?

I want to start training my rat and it seems like treats are the way to go, she dosen't seem to enjoy the store bought treats I got her and I heard using dried fruit is good, does it need to be unsweetened? and what other little snacks would work well as rewards?

Make sure that you don't feed them anything with much salt in it. My rats LOVE really juicy meat, especially smoked salmon. They also like nuts, unsalted crackers and fresh fruit and vegetables. I really enjoyed training my rats to do tight rope. Just natural dried fruit is good- dried apricots in a small amount are good for their iron.

You could use sweetened but your rats could develop health problems from too much sugar in their diet. biscuits and crackers are good too, rats will really eat anything a human will, i would just watch them with sausage and eggs, they can get a little bitey because the smell.drives them crazy

I give mine small pieces of crackers, they love it. Unsalted nuts also work well. You will probably have to just figure out what they like best through trial and error until you find what works best for you and them.
