Toddler sleeps alot and has two naps a day (long)?

This little fellow (19 months now) I look after, gets up extremely early which is ok with his parents, and he loves to nap about 830 am. So from 530 am til 830 he is active.

He insists on this sleep time. I am just the babysitter who receives him at my place . My best time of day is in the morning, and the little boy is sleeping. If he could, he would sleep and sleep. I HAVE to wake him up each time. After lunch, after 130 he wants to sleep again.

Ok, I thought this age group is dropping naps down to one a day. Not this guy.

So he is extremely limiting me from having an active life.

The parents won't budge. They like him waking up at 5-530am. It suits their schedule and work.

Thanks

Update:

I want to know how to possibly train him to wake up earlier from morning nap and not have an afternoon one. Any suggestions?

Kids can keep that afternoon nap until they are 3-4, so there's probably not much you can do about that. At this age he needs to sleep between 12-14 hrs per day. He's probably more on the 14 hours a day side. You can always try to push his morning nap back or wake him up a little earlier from it and see if he doesn't get cranky. If you get rid of the morning nap then you could also move the afternoon nap forward a little.

Honestly he doesn't sound ready to give up that nap yet. You can usually tell when they don't need the morning nap if they are fighting going down at that time or if they are fine if they've skipped it for a day.

Some children need more sleep than others. My son used to have his 2 naps and still sleep 9 hours at night. When he didn't get enough sleep he was very cranky and wouldn't eat and just wanted to cry. This might be a reason why the parents are so adament that they stick to the schedule. Once he's ready he will stop wanting to take both naps. You are the babysitter but it's important that you either follow the parents instructions or else tell them that they need to find someone else if it's such a problem for you.

It really depends on what time they are putting him to bed. My 2 year old goes to bed late because we are both home together all day, so she goes out at like midnight and sleeps til 1030-11 and takes a nap around 330.( 4 hours after waking) Enjoy the peace and quiet, I'm sure he's fine.:)

Some kids drop to one nap at this age but some will continue to have two naps until 2 or even beyond. Isn't better that when he is asleep, you have your own time? Trust me if he is awake, you won't have time at all, let alone having an active life/ activities. You can exercise or even take him shopping while he is asleep. When he is awake, he may not want to do what you want to do. Beside, his parents want you to stick to his schedule. Just enjoy all the time to yourself.
