Cars, drugs, ladders, swimming pools, and plastic bags cause 98.6% of annual deaths, why focus on guns?

Liberals don't care all that much about deaths per-say. They just don't want you to be able to fight back against them and their agenda.

If it were about deaths they would be going after the greatest causes. Instead of something way down on the list.

What is the one thing a gun can be used for that all those other things are no where as good at. Allowing you quick and immediate self-defense even if surprised.

Tyrants always go for the guns. Since that is the biggest threat to their take over.

...and manufacturers of plastic bags have been forced to put warning labels on them, drugs are illegal and car manufacturers have been forced to overhaul safety features, resulting in a dramatic drop in vehicle motor accidents (That one actually worked - third world countries, where the regulations are not in place still have high rates of fatalities and serious injuries for crashes that are mere fender-benders in the developed world).

Nobody (or almost nobody) is actually talking ban.

All we're talking about are reasonable regulations and limits.

And again, almost everybody agrees with that. Very few people would be comfortable making rocket-launchers available to the general public.

We end up talking to the extremists, because they're the ones taking all the media spots and pushing corporate lobby agendas. But most people fall way outside of the extreme, all-or-nothing propositions that the media love to sound-byte us about so much.

We all agree (let's say about 99 percent of us do) that responsible citizens should be allowed hunting riffles.

We all agree (99 percent, again) that an anti-aircraft missile launcher does not belong on a suburban front lawn.

In between that, there is plenty of room for different positions.

But it would be nice to get the REAL people talking because frankly, the pundits don't have anything interesting to say.

Wonder if it would have been a drunk truck driver slamming into a school buss killing those kids if there would have been as strong a movement to ban cars, and liquor ?

By the way armed we are citizens, unarmed we are subjects. This would just be the first right to go, it's the one that ultimately protects all the others, don't allow them to take it away...

Deaths caused by drugs, ladders, swimming pools and plastic bags are the result of stupidity. You can't outlaw stupidity, unfortunately.

There's a difference between accidental deaths and violent crimes. Nobody is being attacked with swimming pools.

Just another way Libs have of showing their disdain and hatred for the Constitution and things that make America great..which they highly DESPISE

Disarming the people is the first step towards and effective tyranny (see Germany, Russia, China, Armenia,...).

Because tyrants are not afraid of cars, drugs, ladders, swimming pools, and plastic bags.

There is a real and useful need for cars, drugs, pools, ladders, and plastic bags. There is no real useful need for guns.

people can actually prevent the shout outs & drugs..their not going to take away our ladders, cars, swimming pools , etc.
