That is a "loaded" question! Sorry I couldn't resist! I don't think there is an easy answer to this because it would depend on many things. Is the gun loaded? Do both parties know how to use the gun? Is the gun even in view at the time of the dispute? How many people are involved in the dispute? Even though there is a gun in the house any person involved in a domestic dispute can be hurt or killed in many other ways. Guns don't kill, people kill!

The women who lives with an abusive partner. If she is shot first, it doesn't matter how many guns are in the house. However, it doesn't take a gun for a woman (person) to die in a domestic dispute.

More people die in car crashes and doctor mistakes than in domestic disputes. Most domestic disputes result in the woman being beaten by hands or stabbed. I don't recall anyone being killed in my area with a gun in a domestic violence dispute.

Most of the deaths due to guns are inner city gang bangers. Most of the domestic cases are suicides.

The anti-gun lobby never separates suicides from homicides when discussing domestic deaths from guns.

The unarmed woman is far more likely to die in a domestic dispute.

2. She'll use the gun on herself and commit suicide as women turn violent against themselves more often than they will at others
