My dog is having stomach problems and panting.?
I have spent hundreds of dollars at the vet and they can not find an answer. The past few months my 8 year old cockerspaniel has been having stomach issues. His stomach get bloated and hard and he doesnt stop panting. The vet took xrays and stated he had an enlarged liver. He was put on medication and it helped some but after a few weeks the problem keeps occuring. They thought it may have been an anal gland problem because when he goes to the bathroom he kind of whines and they checked everything was fine. I am at a loss right after spendong so much money and having so many test done he is still uncomfortable. I know its his stomach becuase when he eats it gets real hard. Im not sure why he has been panting so much. The past few days he has been drinking alot of water and constantly going to the bathroom to do #2. we changed his food to a helathier brand but the problem still persist. Can someone help me.

Be persistant, try another vet maybe? My 12 year old chihuahua seemed to be failing fast. The first 5 years of her life where horrible. Weight loss, bruised easily, bloating to the point of screaming, diareah with blood and mucus, weakness, intolerant to warmer weather, high liver enzymes, vomiting, change in diet and on and on. My vet changed her diet, took her of of all the meds(forta flora & sulphasazine) and behold she is a differant animal! She has been on for about 5 years now Prescription Royal Canin's Dry and Wet food Potatoe/whitefish and the results where imediate! I mean the very next day she had solid stools. Every 3 weeks she gets a B12 shot and i also give her milk thistle & Sam e mixed with her food Prescription. She is like a puppy now so playful and happy! I hope you can find out what is going on! Maybe an ultra-sound? Good Luck!

It might help to try a vet that hasn't seen him. Sometimes the "clean slate" will allow a new vet to focus on the issues at hand. Good luck.
