Can't find PC Cleaner Pro to remove it?
I tried to install AVG anti-virus and it said I need to remove PC Cleaner Pro first. There's also a message in Action Center: "PC Cleaner Pro reports that it is turned off and must be turned on manually using the program". As far as I can tell I don't have this program. I never downloaded it, it's not listed in programs, doesn't turn up in searches, and is not running in Task Manager. Are there other program names I should look for?
I think this was actually contained on the AVG disc itself as the same thing happened on another computer! Regardless, I found it by searching the registry for "PC Cleaners".

Interesting problem. PC Cleaner Pro appears to be a legitimate product. This procedure is one I sometimes recommend for disinfection (hence the reference to infection)...but it may find and remove any remnants of PC Cleaner Pro that have somehow gotten onto your computer.
Try this:
Firstly, boot your computer to the Safe Mode menu screen. You do this by repeatedly pressing F8 as soon as you boot up. Once there, use the arrow keys to highlight Safe Mode with Networking. Continue to boot from there, by pressing Enter. You will now see some drivers being loaded. There will be a pause at some point. This usually lasts for no more than 30 seconds.
If that’s successful, open your browser, copy and paste this link into the address bar and press Enter. It's a direct download for RKill. Save it to your desktop, then run it. It takes just a minute to run. As it's running, any remaining desktop icons will vanish for a few seconds. When the notepad report is displayed, just close it.

RKill SHOULD HAVE STOPPED THE INFECTION(S) FROM RUNNING, BUT IT WON'T HAVE REMOVED IT / THEM.
Now open your browser and copy and paste this link into the address bar, and press Enter. It's a direct download for the free version of Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware (MBAM). Install it, get updates and run a full scan (still in Safe Mode):

You should now delete RKill, as updated versions are often made available. Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware is easy to uninstall, but it may prove to be beneficial in the future.
After this, try rebooting normally. If that's successful, I recommend you run another full scan with MBAM. It will detect malware that wasn't running in Safe Mode.
Hope this helps.

Go into your control panel, and look for programs, and you will see an option to remove programs. It will give you a list of all the programs that are installed on your computer. It is alphabetical. So look for PC Cleaner Pro in the list.
This program often loads by default with a number of other programs, and if you don't catch the boxes to uncheck it, then it gets loaded along with the program you want to load.
If you find it, then you can uninstall it.
But if it doesn't show up in the program list, then I have no options to suggest.
It is a legitimate program.

I am a developer at Microsoft so I know a thing or two about computers. The best PC cleaner and antivirus program is CCleaner, it's very light and it's the only antivirus/cleaner with a 99.99% detection rate.
CCleaner is also a PC booster so your computer will be running faster than nomal. Download it here for free: http://bit.ly/1mQZhtQ

The best program that I found to download that works excellent at protecting your computer from anything harmful is called SuperAntiSpyware You can easily download their free edition. It scans your entire PC Memory, Registry, and Files. If it finds anything harmful, it quarantines it and when it finishes its scan, it will list the virus, or trojan, worm, malware, cookie and ask you if you want to remove it, then just click remove. Clicking the yellow bug icon on your taskbar will display the page instantly, then you just click the word scan. Cordially, Mr. Alan C. Avellar
