Why do people on yahoo answers give the wrong answers 'best answer'?
It happens extremely often. I'm very experienced in psychology and sometimes I see questions that I am specifically educated in and I give very informative, detailed answers and someone who answered the question poorly, or even completely irrelevant to the question somehow is chosen over my answer?
It tends to frustrate me because I put a lot of effort in my answers and it's quite disappointing.
Suggesting that I need to see a psychologist is a clear example of a general irrelevant answer. Psychologists are not meant to be used as a therapist. This wasn't a rant. It was a legitimate question.

Because they're idiots. They can't tell a good answer from a poor one. I go through the same thing. I answer with deep thought and they just never pay attention to it. Maybe because it's too long and they're too lazy to read it? I don't know. All I know is that I put a lot of thought into an answer and the short, dumb answer gets the best. Beats me. I'm right there with you pal.

Sometimes people can be ignorant. I've seen it too. My only guesses are people are just ignorant or maybe they are too lazy to read a big long informative answer, even though it is a good one that can help them. I feel ya.

Sometimes if the answer has more vote then Yahoo itself will chooses it as Te best answer but sometimes crap answer received the best answer because the answer actually what the asker expected to hear.

As a psychologist you should understand confirmation bias.
If my answer agrees with your preconceived beliefs please give me best answer lol.
p.s: I'm a consultant pharmacist, so giving people medical advice to have them agree with the 18 year old that "sez u'll be fine, keep dooing drugz, i did it to n im okay" can be irritating, especially when you tell them that they probably have a condition that will need treatment *sigh*

Really. Please have a seat and tell us all about it. Comfortable? Good. Now why don't you start at the beginning, sometimes whining about it can make things seem better.
