How can I stay in Australia longer?
I am in Australia on a 12month working visa. I know I can work 3months doing agricultural work and get an extension, but what are the other ways if you are a UK resident, as I would like to stay for a few more years if possible. Can I apply to do an apprenticeship and be given a different type of visa?
How do I apply to become a resident, and can I stay in Australia while it's being processed?
Thanks

WHV is it.
Otherwise short term visa like a tourist visa (can't work and no permancy)
Or a student visa (again short term, costly, limited work - 20 hours a week and no permancy)
Otherwise no. You can't extend your stay.
You won't get an apprenticeship and there is no visa to cover that and would not give you permancy.
You have to qualify to come here permantly just like everyone else and if you don't qualify then tough, you don't get to stay.

You can maybe apply for an apprenticeship and be given another visa, but most likely you will have to return home to apply for a different visa as that's how it is in a lot of countries. I'm sure you can apply for a permanent residence visa provided you have stayed in the country long enough..Look up Australia's laws on permanent residence visas..I'm trying to move to Slovenia and it will take me about a year after I am married to get a permanent residence visa, however it would have taken me up to 10 years had I not been getting married there..Good luck!

You not eligible for any other visa and will have to leave Australia when your WHV (or your second WHV if you meet the requirements to extend it) finishes.
Australian apprenticeships are only available to Australian citizens or PRs, New Zealand citizens or the dependents of workers who are here on certain temporary or provisional visas, none of which apply to you.
You could of course stay on a Student visa but you must be a full time student and meet attendance and performance requirements or the visa will be cancelled. You cannot apply until you have been accepted at an Australian educational institution and must have sufficient funds to pay for tuition up front at international rates plus $18,610/year for living expenses. Student visa holders can only work a maximum of 40 hours in any fortnight while their course is in session but can work unlimited hours during official course breaks. Studying in Australia does not in any way guarantee Permanent Residency.

Every work visa requires you to have qualifications and experience in an occupation on the Consolidated Sponsored Occupation List (CSOL) and you must also either pass the points test (not all occupations are eligible for points tested visas) or have formal employer sponsorship by an eligible employer (many employers are not eligible).

You can come on a student visa by enrolling in an approved full time course.
