Colour Blindness and Engineering?

Im in year 11 this year and ive decided I want to do engineering, but while i was searching through the different engineering fields I saw that its not recomended if youre colourblind. I have a very bad case of red-green colourblindness. It doesnt affect me very much at all in day to day life, I dont get anywhere near passing any colour blind test its that bad, when i was tested by an eye doctor person (not sure what they are called) I could only answer 2/ about 30 of the dot questions. Im wondering if I should continue to pursue engineering or change to something else. If so what other fields require maths because im quite good at it and I want to do something that involves it. My year 11 subject for this year are VCE - Method 3/4, Physics 1/2, Chemistry 1/2, English 1/2, Sport and Rec 3/4. if that helps with a different career choice

I don't see why a color blind person can't be an engineer. It may limit some jobs but there are many jobs where that should not be a problem.

You might talk with the people at the university placement about this problem.
