hamster just sleeping, is something wrong?

Ok so i got a baby hamster yesterday (he is around 8 weeks old) and i set him up in his cage Last night he was running around making lots of noise using his wheel, Today he is just sleeping and is not coming out. i obviously want to interact with him but i don't want to frighten him. Also he was asleep in the pet shop when i bought him should i be concerned about him?

Hamsters are crepuscular which means that they are active at twilight.

This is why they aren't a pet that you can cuddle, play and interact with. They are more of an observing pet. There will be times during the day your hamster will get up, usually when there is no one in the room.

Your hamster will be active all night and sleep all day, this is perfectly normal behavior and there is nothing to worry about.

Something to remember is that moving to a new home is greatly stressful on their little systems. It is a general rule to let the new hamster alone for seven days. That means no handling, petting or loud noises around his cage. Stress causes illness in these little critters. I know it is hard but he needs to get used to his new home and surroundings. Once the weeks is up you can begin hand taming him.

There isn't anything wrong with handling him during the day just make sure to not grab him from his nesting area, always wait til he is walking around. His bed or hut is his shelter, his protection and grabbing him from that shelter can cause him to nip or hiss.

Your hamster sounds nice. whilst hamsters become older they'll advance right into somewhat much less lively. Him dozing greater is truly popular. Its like human beings. we do not have set cases that we will doze off or awaken. (different then whilst the alarm wakes us up) So there is not any longer something to complication approximately. you're hamster is nice!

Hamsters are crepuscular, meaning they are most active at dawn and dusk. During the day is when they sleep. Expect your hamster to be up anywhere from the late afternoon to evening to nighttime to early morning.

You are not supposed to disturb your hamster for the next 3 or 4 days after you get it. This is a stressful time for him. He has been moved to a completely new environment. Disturbing him or trying to handle him too quickly can result in illness.

Baby's need lots of rest, plus they are active at night and sleep during the day. Don't worry as he/she gets older they will stay awake longer!
