If the #6 car is Roush Fenway's "flag-ship" car, why don't they let Stenhouse Jr. drive it?
He drove it in the Nationwide series. You would think Jack Roush would bring the #6 car back instead of the #17.

The 6 car only ran a few races with Stenhouse in 2012. Stenhouse is replacing Matt Kenseth who drove the 17 and that is the number that has points to get him into the races if he has a bad qualifying. I am not sure who Roush would run in a 6 car because Trevor Bayne is driving his Nationwide car in 2013, but Bayne drives a limited schedule in Cup for the Wood Brothers. Mark Martin drove the 6 for many years and David Ragan won his only race in the 6, but Jack Roush is somewhat of an eccentric and it is hard to understand some of the things he does.

They would probably put Stenhouse in the 6 for that reason and because we have associated him with it in Nationwide, but they kept it as the 17 mainly because of sponsors, so that there wouldn't have to be so much re-branding after the 17 has now been associated with Best Buy, Zest, and Fifth Third, and they don't want to change the association to the 6.

If they change the car No. then they would have to change the merchandise for that driver. It is easier to keep the 17 for e sponsor and for the merchandise that the fans buy.
