If you break a bone while in military service, does wearing a cast go against uniform regulations?
Suppose you broke your leg and you required a full leg cast, would you be allowed to wear your uniform?
Also would you be discharged if you broke a leg or something that rendered you unable to preform your job?
So if you break both your legs, and you're a mechanic that works on planes and you can't preform your job it wouldn't matter? That's all I'm asking.
And I think you guys misread the question. I'm saying if your injury renders you unable to do your job could you be discharged. Not if you're in a cast will you get discharged. I was just simply wondering if you could still wear it.
J, no they didn't they didn't answer the question if you could wear your uniform with a cast. They just said if you're hurt you wouldn't get discharged.
1) I'm not sure why everyone got upset. I just wanted to know that if you have a cast could you wear your uniform.
2) And if you're injured with a broken limb and you couldn't preform your job could you get discharged.
I guess everyone can't read and saw it as if I said "If you have a cast in the military will you get discharged?"

Guy....I had to wear one of those plastic neck casts when I had 2 bones in my neck broken. Guess what? I still finished my 20 and had to wear my uniform every day. If you are unable to do your job, or anything in the military you will be discharged. If you can not do your job but still be useful to the military you may be re-classed. It depends on you and your unit.

Good Lord!
Really???
We have soldiers with prosthetic legs and arms in uniform. A simple cast is not a problem.
If you break an arm or leg and it will heal normally, you can return to full duty once it is healed.
Just like a bullet wound or cut.

Really? I've got to say that this is one of those questions that makes me cringe ....
I've broken several bones over the years. With my broken arm, I slit the sleeve open along the seam and safety pinned it around my wrist. With a broken wrist, I just kept my sleeve rolled up - although that time I took some magic markers and painted my cast camo. With a busted leg, I took two pair of BDU pants and cut the leg off one side to slip up over my cast.
What do you think we do with casts?
Discharged????? For what? We let guys who loose a limb stay in for god's sakes ....
