Recovering an Automatically Deleted File that Word Put in a Temp Directory?

I simply can not believe MS Word did this to me. Please help.

A client sent me a zip file. I put it in the proper directory. I opened it and modified it (extensively) and saved it as a new file. I did not notice that Word had decided to PUT IT IN A DIFFERENT -- and TEMPORARY -- DIRECTORY. Ugh!! It was C:\Users\MyName\AppData\Local\Temp, I think. Then I guess it decided that a couple of days had passed and deleted it. It was less than a week ago that I last worked on it.

So, I...

- Searched my entire hard drive for one of the words in the file name...nothing (or at least nothing useful)

- Checked the recycle bin...nothing

- Checked "recent files" in Word...nothing

- Went to C:\Users\MyName\AppData\Local\Temp and looked. There were 1,000+ garbagey-named files (CVR474C.tmp.cvr and whatnot)...and nothing useful

Help!! :(

Update:

QuestionMaker, you mention "goto file and select save as then it shows the folder where you save your last file." That's great advice, but I already did that. (That's how I got the C:\Users\MyName... location where I found nothing.) :(

temp directory is mostly make a shortcut when you open any files, not only word file.. but ms word cannot delete any word file automattically.. you don't confused with temp directory.. it is not where your file stored.. it is a subfile for your original file for work your pc very speed...thats why your temp directory make temperory files in your system...

i think you remove your file manually or open ms word and

goto file and select save as then it shows the folder where you save your last file..

then you can see the directory of your file...

or goto file and select open. it shows you where you open your last file..

this is the way to open your last save or open file..

see that directory clearly and go that directory ...

particular, with utility, you will get better deleted information that not look interior the recycle bin. They use algorithms to the two detect a particular character marker which shows to the document equipment that a document is deleted, or they seek the hard stress's unfastened area for particular document signatures. How long does it circulate back? That relies upon on how plenty unfastened area you have and how many different information you have copied to and erased out of your hard stress. If the actual region on the hard stress the place a deleted document's contents is residing has been written over by using a greater recent document, then you certainly probably can't get better it.
