forklift training in a factory?

I know I will receive one on one training for this at some point. I've worked in a factory for 6 yrs while going to school online, but still have a while to go before I get a degree. I'm bored with my job but it has great benefits and pay. So I decided to learn forklift for a change. I just watched the video 2day and did well with the test......but I'm so nervous for when the day comes when I am going to be operating one. It's simple forklift. No deep inclines or alot of pedestrians. But besides my training and being careful, ect....does anyone have any tips about what it 's like to start operating one and what I should do to not freak out?

you have watched the video, probably one where part of it shows dangerous manovers.

I took a forklift test in 1997 (UK), i was nervous beforehand but on the day it was better than i expected, i would much sooner take a forkleft test again than i would a driving test.

The main thing is to pay attention, you should be given clear instrucutions on how to operate the forklift safely. The main thing to do is to stay calm and relaxed, it is not speed test although you cannot go too slow, you should be given suffient time to carry out all the maneorvers in allocated time. I don't know if you drive a car, if you do then it is the same kind of thing, the first time you got behind then wheel of a car it was all new and now you probably just get behind the wheel and go.

so stay relaxed and Good Luck.

Where I worked they never asked.. You had to pass a written and driving test on the forklift. I do think you need to pass some kind of test though. There are some things you need to know about driving one. They never asked if you had a drivers license. I'm not sure that it is OSHA requirement. Just each factory requirement. I loved driving a forklift..,was my favorite job in the warehouse.
