Actual data of dietary distribution is hard to come by. Simply it is not collected. When was the last time someone polled you for example. There are many people to do not eat certain meats for religious reasons. While strictly not vegetarians, you can consider them in the ovo/lacto category. Also they are Jains whose religions beliefs about food are close to that of a Vegan. So you can use religious data and extrapolate there are quire a few in India.

    Vegetarian - India, clearly.

Vegan? That is a good question! I did some Googling and I think that the US has the highest number of vegans, but Canada has a higher percentage of vegans: http://www.veganmainstream.com/taking-it-mainstrea...

Friendofchip, no one is vegan for poverty reasons.

When people have no money to buy food such as in China, they grow and gather food. Eels, fish, small mammals, bugs, and other animals are foods that these people eat often. You don't get out much do you friendofchip?

And 80% of the world vegan??? lol

Why do you keep spreading propaganda? Do you want people to have incorrect facts or are you just too ignorant to know any better?

  • Vegetarians: India, hands down

Vegans: difficult question but I'd wager the U.K or Germany

all on a per capita basis, of course

India for both I think. By numbers it could be China, by default a lot of the people are vegetarian for poverty reasons. On any given day it is reckoned that at least 80% of the world is veg/an.
