is it normal for a 5.3l chevrolet engine to use oil on a new truck?

If you feel there is an issue with your Silverado, please address it with your dealership. They should be able to properly diagnose and repair any problems if they occurring. Still breaking in. Change your oil every 3000 miles.

10,000 miles and only one oil change?

You can do an oil sample and see what the oil breakdown looks like, but I'd start by changing the oil more often- especially on a brand new engine. I know that's old school thinking, but it works.

You have to be kidding. You think a quart every 6,000 miles is excessive oil use?

It's still in break-in mode... so I would not worry about it yet.

It should not be burning oil after 7500 miles or so.
