How come school districts don't use the escape strategy of the 6 kids that got away from the school?

We have fire drills in all public schools. Generally, when children see a gunman murder their teachers and fellow classmates, their instinct is to run in the other direction. Their running the other way might have saved their lives, but many others never had the chance to escape.

    Tell you what.

I've been through the school in another country. We learned military preparedness as a subject, though it was regular middle and high public school.

During that subject we learned about grenades, automatic assault weapon, tanks, airplanes, ranks in the army, how to wear gas mask, how to help wounded person with fist aid kit, disassemble and assemble fully automatic gun and many other military related things. We practiced shooting small caliber .22 LR bolt action rifles and spent 1 week in military installation and practiced shooting fully auto assault weapon. This subject was just one of the rest, like math, physic, chemistry, music, history, etc.

We even had a team of sharp shooters students, who was the best in that, and they went to all kind of competition shooting around the country.

All other public schools in that country had similar education program that include military preparedness subject.

During all that time, I never heard that someone shoot somebody, forget the mass shooting at any of these schools. Though students had (supervised) access to weapon. I never even heard of any accident or weapon misuse in any of these school.

Another good thing came out of that all students went out of school fully understand what guns mean, how they work and what they are for. They also learned about military a lot, and were prepare for critical situations.

Some may think it is negative thing to teach students at school about guns. To my experience it all was only positive things. It all depends on how you teach kids to things like that. To just get scare of guns, put your head in the send, and ban them all, is not very smart idea. Criminals won't ban theirs...

    Source(s): my 2 cents...

Why is it that every single mass shooting (except for 1) all occurred in gun-free zone?

If a gun-free zone makes everyone safer, why isn't the White House a gun-free zone?

I guarantee you that if the school had allowed teachers/staff to carry guns there would have been a LOT LESS victims.

The same reason they don't make the whole jetliner out of the black box.
