You need to contact your human resource or payroll department at work and show them your social security card so that they can correct their records and re-issue you a corrected W2 form. And don't waste any time doing it.
You do NOT need to contact social security or the IRS - that is your employer's job.

Inform your (1) employer, the (2) Social Security Administration and the (3) IRS to rectify.

you are able to desire to get your "dumb corporation" to concern a W2c, or corrected W-2. with a bit of luck it wasn't the fool worker who crammed in the W-4. Get a W-2c on the instant. yet it extremely is in all danger no longer the reason it replace into rejected, while you're conversing approximately 2007 taxes. If this is 2006, then it must be. seem on the rejection be conscious--examine it, seem on the code or the letter. locate out why your return is being rejected. often this is by way of fact your call because it extremely is on your SS card and the call & SS # on you tax return do no longer tournament. Are you utilising your maiden call particularly than married call? the 1st 4 letters of your final call could desire to tournament your SS card.

You ask the issuer for a "corrected W-2" - they'll know what that means, especially after you tell them their mistake!
