I strongly believe that iPad is better.
Reason- An iPhone is rarely visible from a distance but an iPad is.
And....... I'm answering your question through an iPad!

I think iPad. I have both, like them both, but I use the iPad way more. I think it seems more high class to have an iPad, but why are you worried about looking high class anyway? Pick the one that will suit your needs the best and make you the happiest.

I would say iPad has better power, battery, bigger screen, bigger price, but not for use as a cell phone at all (although it has 4G LTE).
iPhone, cheaper than iPad, smaller screen, better camera I believe, has phone such as calling and texting options, requires service with a cell phone carrier.
