Is there any way that I can recover photos and contacts from a locked android?

So, my android phone got totally smashed and ruined. The phone still turns on, but I have a pattern lock on it and the touch screen is broken so I can't unlock it. I got a new phone today, the same kind as my old one. It's and LG Optimus Elite. The people at Radio Shack couldn't transfer my stuff because my old phone is locked, but I was wondering if there was anything I can do at home? I can't just plug my old phone into my computer and do it that way because yhe settings are on charge only. But maybe there is some kind of software I can download or something to get the files off of my old phone without unlocking it?

THE ONLY WAY TO RECOVER PICTURES IS IF U HAD IT IN A SD CARD OR IF U KNOW UR GMAIL ACCOUNT AND PASSWORD. AFTER SO MANY ATTEMPTS IT PROMPTS U TO LOGIN TO UR GMAIL. OTHERWISE, IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO RETRIEVE ANY INFORMATION FROM THE PHONE
