Why do atheist make such a priority of discrediting a God that they don't believe exist?

Atheists need to attack Christianity. It is because Christianity makes very high claims concerning God's existence, which challenges their atheism and pokes holes in their vacuum. They like the vacuum. They like having the universe with only one god in it: themselves.

not all of them do that. Even when i was very religous it was obvious religion is a great detriment to humanity. People twist around a message and use it to justify greed. With religion people value this world less. It gives them an incentive not to do anything thinking there's a happily ever after anyways. There have been many great religous activists that have benefited the society around them in great ways but getting such movements going is much more troublesome. Religous or not we know this world is the only one we have for sure. People also kill each other over religion and this tupe of conflict is ruining the middle east. With religion politicians can make people fight each other and distract them so they can get away with F-ing society. They want to try to reduce this is minuscule. Religion is here to stay no doubt in my mind. Although many do want to reduce what harm religion does I can't help but feel cynical and think a lot not all of these outspoken atheists just want an ego boost just like the people they debate. They don't care about spreading truth and reason as much as that as much as feeding thier ego; they don't want to admit it. You can easily see this by all the insults and self-righteousness on both sides.

Because you guys like to use your God as an excuse to tell us how to live and to spew your intolerance towards other minorities, like gay people. Discredit the delusion and you discredit the excuse. Also you guys make such a fuss that your God exists, so why are you guys such hypocrites when it comes to our rights to voice our views that gods are imaginary. You make is sound like religion is just as invisible as your God. If it was you wouldn't hear a peep from atheists, but you can't help but to impose your delusion onto society.

Edit: Seriously, are you guys really that simple? Can you not discern the difference between a fake God and "REAL" religion. It's all about religion, not your imaginary friend that we don't believe exists. It's not rocket science, yet you continue to ask this ridiculous question.

It would be pretty weird if they made a priority out of discrediting a God that they DO believe exists, now wouldn't it?

A lot of Christians attempt to force their beliefs on me and it's wrong. We don't discredit god. You guys just think we do simply because we don't believe in him.

Because of all the... I don't want to say "complete and utter idiots," but I think it's the best fit... that claim that homosexuality should be punished by eternal damnation, or that the earth is a few thousand years old, or that evolution (which is supported by decades of scientific evidence) is fake, or that creationism is just as valid, or that kids should be taught from a book that claims that owning slaves is OK and women should submit to their husbands' every whim (which, on top of all that, claims that two of every animal was placed on a wooden ship and survived days before seeing land, or that the Earth is a flat rectangle supported at the corners by pillars.

Why do Christians make such a priority against gay rights/atheists?

Any time you people trot out lies in an attempt to discredit science I have to speak up. I can't stand ignorance and superstition presented as fact.

The Universe had a beginning. It can be proven mathematically that everything came from a central point. MATHMATICS proves it. If you doubt that it's not true then let's see your carefully crafted mathematic proof that it is false.

I have never tried to discredit God. If people believe in him, that's fine by me. I do not believe in him.
