When did skin and hair colour become so important?

I don't see why some people have a problem with people of other races and backgrounds

I mean, I'm as white as you can get and I think people of African descent are the most gorgeous and attractive people.

Why does it matter where someone is from or their heritage?

Also, I have red hair. Blah blah I have no soul, carrot top, fanta pants. I've heard them all. I really don't understand what's so wrong with it :/ I mean I get people shouting out "ranga" (an Australian term) and "Ginger" from their cars. I obviously realize I have red hair. Is it necessary to further attempt to bring that to my attention. It can really bring me down and make me feel horrible about myself. I'm 15 for goodness sake. Teenage years are fragile. Not fun for someone who already has had to go to a psycologist for depression and major self esteem problems. I was born with red hair and it's who I am and I shouldn't have to change my hair colour to please others.

Please feel free to share your thoughts and opinions.

Well, discrimination against color was fairly recent, about with the founding of the New World. However, long ago, people discriminated against people who where pale, and the Slavs where the first race to ever be captured and enslaved for difference in appearance ( the Slavs were pale and blond, which was considered lowly) and that is where we get the term "slaves" (Slav = slave).

People just want to establish a pecking order naturally, and when people are equal intellectually, color seemed the next best option. Humans just naturally want to create order and classes (the nobles, the clergy, the peasants, the slaves, etc.) and color is one of the easiest ways to do it. People also want other people to blame for bad events, as is exampled by the Nazis discriminating the Jews in WWII. It's sad, but its the truth. People just want other people to look down on, and color is the easiest way.

Interesting question, we humans want to form groups to become stronger together. It's more obvious to from groups with people that look and are like you the most. So, it doesn't matter thát much, we just pretend it does. We also need someone to blame for everything. Look at ,for example, the second worldwar, the jews did everything. Look at christians, the devil did everything, or people now, the nazi's did everything which is wrong. So we need someone to blame for everything which is wrong on this planet. about 50 years ago those people were the black skin coloured humans ,and now the red-haired people. We are just really mean as a species :) . Good Luck ! -Canter
