Health care. And they're all more liberal and less religious than us except for Ireland.

America isn't in the top 10 because of a 7.8% unemployment rate and the majority of America bordering on poverty. The other countries not only have less poverty, but also more benefits. However, our middle class and higher class members do have lifestyles similar to the people in countries in the top 10 list.

It used to be that 7 out the 10 had suicide rates higher than the US. Now only 3 of them do,with 5 more of them being listed within the next 6 countries behind the US. I have to wonder though,if they are so happy, why would 3 have higher suicide rates, and 5 of them have almost the same suicide rate as the US. Happy people usually don't kill themselves

Well half of them were all invaded in World War II and liberated by the United States.

They were all "determined" to be happy without actually asking anyone if they are.

I can do the same thing. I can DEFINE "happiness" however I want then "prove" cities without Democrats are the happiest.

Source(s): YOUR source. "Happiness" is defined by "89 indicators." "Are you happy?" is not one of them.

None of them are of any significance on the whole.

They are all small countries-in terms of population, I'm aware that in terms of land Canada is huge-who aren't world leaders in any sense of the word.

    sounds a little like propaganda.

"What else? They are all borderline socialist states, with generous welfare benefits and lots of redistribution of wealth. Yet they don't let that socialism cross the line into autocracy. Civil liberties are abundant (consider decriminalized drugs and prostitution in the Netherlands). There are few restrictions on the flow of capital or of labor."

    8 out of 10 ... cold weather.

Remember .. most of these "countries" except Australia and Canada are extremely small places... like some small US States. It is easier to make people happy in small places. If you go state by state in the US you will find a lot of happiness. But Blue states are probably miserable...and drag down our rating.

all countries with very small populations. Canada 34M, Australia 22M, the rest under 10M, and several under 5M people.

    America 320M people.

Just how do you gage happiness hell one could go to those liberal ''happy time circles'' they love so much and one would think their really happy ''quick turn to page 17 I'm almost there, your my best mate you know''
