What are some American food words that are different but mean the same in Australia or another country?
For example prawn - shrimp, chips - french fries, crumbed - breaded?, and cooking terms and ways do you bake in a crock pot - for us it's a slow cooker. Do you roast in the oven? Do you have any quirky terms or cooking methods? You seem to have a lot of " sauces" that people know about.
I'm quite interested and it leaves me a little baffled sometimes in the cooking recipe section as to what things mean at times.

Most culinary terms in the English-speaking world can
cross national borders without creating havoc in the kitchen.
Nevertheless, there are differences in cookery term usage -
the Australian/British biscuit is a cookie to an American, but
an American biscuit is an Australian/British scone!
