Today is Sunday and I witnessed a 37 year old man, verbally abuse his Mother. He called her a M fu--err and?

He called her all types of nasty names and threatened her.  So when he went over to her, I took one step towards him and told him to STOP.  He then turned on me and called me the same names.    Should I have socked him in his mouth or kicked him in his groin ?

You should have asked the woman if she felt safe or if she needed help. If she needed help then call 911. If she said no but seemed scared....call 911. Stooping to his trash level does nothing for anyone. God that is so sad. Wtf is wrong with people? Good for u for trying...:(.

Lucky you didnt touch him here as you were in the wrong. Notify the Police and get ready to testify to all this in couirt and verbal abuse doesnt draw big time sentences so chances are nothing would happen anyway

If he was way bigger and stronger than me, I'd leave.  If it was in public (less likely he'll attack me) then I'd ask the lady if she wanted to call someone or go somewhere else.  You know some people, when confronted, will become vicious.  Sometimes I wish I knew all that martial arts stuff, but I don't, so I'd try my best to help, but gotta be wise.

I would have called protective services. Elder abuse is against the law and should be reported like child abuse.
