Are there any pets stores at all that.?

I was think and hoping that maybe I can get a pet store open with only animals from animal shelters such as puppies and dogs and kittens and cats. Are there any that are open like this? Do you think that it would be a good business? I think it would be good and I really want to do this. Does anyone know about how much it would be to open a pet store like this?

Rescue is not a profit-making business. It's expensive to vet rescue animals then adopt them out. It's done for love, not money, and the rescue hopes to break even through adoption fees and donations. Same thing with shelters. Many pet stores offer space in their stores for rescues to "showcase" their adoptable cats, including Petsmart and Petco. But the animals are the property of the rescue or shelter, and not part of the pet store. It's done as a charitable service, and not for the store to make money. If you really want to rescue, volunteer at your local shelter or rescue.

I get it , but the point of rescuing is to get the animal a home. So the idea is half good. Many pet stores get from breeders or are puppy mills and breed themselves. But you could be a breeder and then open a store and sell the pups in it. And kittens. It would be expensive, depends on the place and brand of your supplies. (Do some research)

Thing is a lot of rescues won't agree to help you out, you won't make any profit, and you'll have to deal with a LOT of really dumb people who want animals now but don't want them tomorrow. This is why rescues take weeks to vet the people, get them homechecked, etc etc etc.

Go and volunteer at a rescue and you'll see why this business venture would fall flat on its face.

No. Most pet stores get their dogs and cats from farms for very cheap prices and sell them for very high prices. They will make a profit. What your trying to do is much more complicated and probably won't be as profitable.
